Premiere at the Automotive Engineering Expo: BENTELER Saves Customers Money with New Joining Technology
The “SWOPtec” welding technology allows customers to manufacture composite structures very flexibly and at low cost. “SWOPtec” is particularly suitable for safety-relevant structural elements, because the technology joins the materials steel and aluminum directly together even in highly stressed areas of the vehicle body. The process also delivers a high degree of robustness within typical automotive manufacturing tolerances. With its “SWOPtec” technology, BENTELER is improving efficient production processes for suppliers and automotive manufacturers alike. This technology saw BENTELER being awarded an “Innovation Star”, the innovation prize of the Automotive Engineering Expo.
At the Automotive Engineering Expo, BENTELER also presented its BENTELER Electric Drive System, which celebrated its world premiere at the Auto Show Shanghai in April. As a scalable chassis system, the BENTELER Electric Drive System offers integrated product solutions for use in electric vehicles. It combines many areas of expertise of BENTELER in one product: The flexible and scalable battery storage system with integrated heat management, electrified front and rear axles and safety structures tailored to the requirements of electric mobility. Many not only established but also up-and-coming automotive manufacturers are already showing great interest in this system solution. BENTELER is a key partner for automotive manufacturers in the electric mobility sector. As one of the world's leading supplier of battery trays for electric vehicles, for instance, BENTELER is already supporting three well-known customers in the series production of electric vehicles.
Held in Nuernberg every two years since 2011, the Automotive Engineering Expo offers experts from vehicle manufacturers and the automotive supply industry a forum for in-depth networking focused around body manufacturing and assembly. This year the trade fair was held May 30 and 31.
