Paderborn, June 30, 2022. BENTELER has achieved another sustainability milestone: EcoVadis, one of the world's largest providers of sustainability ratings, has awarded its silver medal to the Steel/Tube Division. By improving from bronze to silver status, the company is now among the top 25% of companies certified by EcoVadis in the “Manufacture of basic iron and steel” category.
"We are delighted to receive this award, which is significant in terms of our strategy. The independent rating underlines our responsible actions and sustainable management, which are central components of our corporate policy. This confirms that with our 'Carbon neutral tubes' initiative we are on the right path to transformation as a CO2-neutral manufacturer of steel tubes," says Ralf Brunnert, Vice President of SHE & Operation Services at BENTELER Steel/Tube and Carbon neutral tubes Program Manager. "By 2045, we want to become CO2 neutral and have transformed our supply chain, production and products. Independent awards such as those from EcoVadis are testimony to our sustainable actions – and motivate us to continue driving our ambitious sustainability strategy with full commitment."
Silver medal certifies responsible, sustainable action and management
The silver medal from EcoVadis recognizes BENTELER Steel/Tube for its activities in the field of sustainability according to the ESG criteria of environment, social and governance. Since its foundation in 2007, EcoVadis has become the world's largest and most reliable provider of sustainability ratings for companies.
The EcoVadis score is based on a defined assessment catalog that provides a comparable overview of EcoVadis certified companies. The assessment focuses on twenty-one criteria grouped into four thematic areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. These criteria are based on international CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) standards such as the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the ISO 26000 standard, the CERES principles and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, also known as the "Ruggie Framework".
