Salzburg/Spartanburg, October 23, 2024. The BENTELER Group is strengthening its automotive plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with an investment in the mid double-digit million dollar range. The investment includes building improvements as well as the modernization of machinery and equipment. The aim is to further improve the existing production and assembly facilities at the site and make production even more efficient.
Rainer Lübbers, CEO of the BENTELER Automotive Modules division said: “The Spartanburg plant is the heart of our division in the USA. We have been manufacturing chassis modules and welded assemblies here since 2006. With this investment, we are now further improving equipment and machinery on site to provide our customers with the best possible performance.”
Henry McMaster, Governor of South Carolina, welcomed the investment: “South Carolina continues to build on its reputation as a global leader in the automotive industry, and BENTELER’s announcement today is further proof. This investment is a major win for Spartanburg County. We are proud of the success BENTELER has found in our state.”
Chad Nelson, BENTELER's Spartanburg Plant Manager, added, “We are excited to expand our manufacturing facility here in Spartanburg. The investment reflects our ongoing commitment to the automotive industry and Spartanburg County. Together with our great employees and our business partners, we will remain a preferred supplier to our customers and thereby make a long-term contribution to the Spartanburg area.”
The BENTELER Group, the parent company of BENTELER Automotive Modules, operates six locations in the U.S., employing approximately 1,700 people. In September of this year, the company announced that it will establish a production site for the HOLON mover, a self-driving minibus, in Jacksonville, Florida.
