BENTELER Steel/Tube donates blood for more than 100 lives

BENTELER is actively involved in its production locations, thereby showing social commitment. On March 2, 2017 the division BENTELER Steel/Tube participated in a blood drive at its US-location in Shreveport, Louisiana.

"By supporting local organizations such as the Lifeshare Blood Center in Shreveport/Bossier we are making a contribution to a common future. This was our second blood drive on the BENTELER site. Especially now that there is a shortage of blood in the area there is an urgent need for support like this”, Tim Graham, member of the Community Activities Committe BENTELER Steel/Tube Shreveport, explains.

Background: every two seconds someone needs blood and just one donation can save up to three lives. One in three people need blood in their lifetime. As a community blood center, LifeShare Blood Centers provides the blood components to many hospitals and medical facilities in Shreveport/Bossier.

To make donating easily accessible a bus of the Lifeshare Blood Centers came on the BENTELER site in Shreveport. Many employees signed up to the blood drive, and contributed to helping people and saving lives. Together it was possible to collect blood for more than 100 lives, double from a year ago!

Following this great success the next blood drive at our location in Shreveport, USA, will take place in fall this year.
