Social

With regard to societal aspects of sustainability, we focus on the well being of our most important stakeholder groups.

Social

We take responsibility

These include our own employees as well as the workforces in the value chain, local communities, consumers and end users.

"As a traditional industrial company, we consistently take new paths to respond to the drivers in a changing working world and shape it to suit our needs: as a hybrid of the classic and the modern."
Heike Weishaupt Vice President Human Resources

We focus on personal
responsibility and flexibility

To remain successful in the long term, we need employees who think entrepreneurially, act on their own initiative and respond flexibly to change. Our corporate values of courage, ambition and respect are also based on this aspiration.

Our competence model plays a major role in career development: It provides orientation for further development in our company. We’re measured against it and it helps us focus on the key issues in our daily work. Regular information events held by top management supplement the goal and result orientation of our employees in terms of the relevance and orientation of their actions.

The global market is characterized by increasing competitive pressure and a changing economic environment. We are convinced that we will only be able to successfully meet these and future challenges with excellently trained employees. The continued development of performance and talent management is the central element for developing and retaining our internal talent for the future.

With regard to the further qualification of our employees, we pay particular attention to recognizing and promoting individual strengths. For this reason, we offer customized courses that enable employees at all levels to fully realize their professional potential. In doing so, we motivate our employees to engage in lifelong learning.

The BENTELER Group is not only an attractive employer for new employees, but can also count on the experience and expertise of long-standing employees. 22% of our workforce has been with the BENTELER Group for more than 20 years, another 26% have been with us between 10 and 20 years, 22% have been with the company between 5 and 10 years, and 30% have been with BENTELER for 5 years or less.

We offer our employees modern working conditions. In this way, we pursue the goal of ensuring that they can always be successful in a changing world of work as well as reconcile their professional and private interests. In doing so, we go beyond legal requirements in some cases.

Our offering includes flexible working hours, part-time work and mobile working as far as they are compatible with operational processes. Itʼs all about balance as well as promoting the health of all employees. As a commercial enterprise, we ensure the performance of our workforce and at the same time promote individual well-being. Because one requires the other.

We sensitize our employees to develop self-care. This happens in workshops with our managers and, among other things, in the form of subsidized sports in Germany and Austria.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

World Cleanup Day is the world's largest waste collection campaign. Every year in September, people all over the world participate and help to rid the environment of waste. BENTELER colleagues also actively support this campaign since 2021.

Whether in teams around our sites across the globe or in private. In China, the USA, Brazil, South Africa, Spain, Germany and Czech Republic, we do our bit for the environment and collect large quantities of waste, which is then disposed of properly.

We take on responsibility

Great willingness to help was shown at our company in the course of the Ukraine war. Within a few days, for example, we set up a group-wide donation initiative in cooperation with UN refugee aid. In addition, many colleagues got involved privately: Through collection campaigns, the reception of refugees and private donations.

During the earthquake in Turkey and Syria at the beginning of February 2023, many people lost their homes and many things that were dear and important to them. In one of the worst hit areas, the Hatay region, BENTELER launched a special initiative. Thanks to numerous donations from our colleagues in Turkey and Spain and support from the company, a tent city was set up in Hatay-Samandağ.

In 2023, we planted trees to improve biodiversity at our sites in Mór, Hungary, and Rumburk, Czech Republic. At our site in Warburg, Germany, a wildflower area was created and in Klášterec, Czech Republic we built up birdhouses.

In 2023, people from 108 nations worked at BENTELER sites in 25 countries. We believe that diversity enriches and different perspectives enable the best solutions.

We provide support in the communities in which we operate through various volunteer activities: In the North and South America regions, for example, our colleagues volunteer as part of the “BENTELER’s Volunteers” program or regularly collect blankets, clothing and toys. These are donated to local institutions to support people in need.
