Rotor shafts

Lightweights that take a heavy load

Making rotor shafts from tube significantly reduces the amount of material—and thus weight. That's especially important for electric vehicles, as weight reduction through lightweight construction contributes to increased vehicle range. Rotor shafts made from our welded or seamless precision steel tubes are lightweight, safe, and just as robust, even at speeds of up to 30,000 RPM.

In addition to providing semi-finished products for rotor shafts based on our tube solutions, we also offer custom complete solutions for rotor shaft components that are both durable and cost-efficient.

Prop shafts

Maximum precision for completely smooth running

Drive shafts require high strength, precision, and excellent surface properties.

Our precision tubes, with optimized geometric properties and high dimensional accuracy, ensure minimal imbalance in drive shafts. They also guarantee extremely low and consistent longitudinal variations during forming processes such as rotary swaging. If required, we can reduce the outer diameter of the shafts for crash-relevant applications or for connections to other parts.

Our precision steel tubes allow for demanding forming processes, making them ideal for tight installation spaces and ensuring leak-tight connections. Innovative coatings like Zistaplex provide optimal corrosion protection without the use of Chromium VI, even after subsequent processing and extreme forming.

The demands on tubes for axle applications are increasing, partly due to the high weight of battery-powered vehicles. Ever-tighter installation space, for example, requires ever more complex forming processes. This is precisely where our material concepts come into play. Higher-strength micro-alloyed and multiphase steels with high ductility also help to reduce the weight of the components.

You can save up to 30% of component weight, for example, with tubes for chassis and powertrain applications made from higher-strength materials and correspondingly reduced wall thicknesses. Drive shafts

Particularly light and torsion-resistant

Drive shafts for electric and combustion engine vehicles made from our tubes are lighter because they replace solid material. The good surface quality and low surface decarburization make our steel tubes resistant to torsion. Their low eccentricity is due to a uniform wall thickness, allowing them to be efficiently formed, both hot and cold.

Tubes for battery reinforcement and crash-relevant automotive components

Our crash-relevant automotive components guarantee specific behavior in a crash. This is because we use a wide spectrum of materials: From multiphase or water-quenched steels to tube with a strength of 1600 MPa. We also handle the assembly of battery cells, including tubes for battery reinforcement for protection against crash.

We also implement additional functions, such as cooling systems.

Our steel tubes withstand even extreme stresses. Thanks to their high strength, our thin-walled tube solutions for chassis applications are effective replacements for solid material. High-strength steels enable significant weight reduction. Additionally, high-carbon steels and minimized surface decarburization increase the service life.
